Our Work

At Lupus Colorado, we focus on two main areas of work: advocacy and patient support. Both are designed to ensure that individuals affected by lupus have the tools, resources, and rights they need to live their lives with dignity and confidence.

Advocacy: Fighting for Your Rights

Through our advocacy efforts, we stand up for the rights of individuals living with lupus, ensuring that they receive the care, support, and protection they deserve. We fight for affordable healthcare and medications, fair treatment at work and school, and improved access to quality medical care. Our primary advocacy goals include securing funding for lupus research, advancing policies that encourage medical innovation, and enhancing coverage for essential services.

We also focus on protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities, ensuring that lupus patients can live without fear of discrimination or barriers to necessary care.

Our advocacy efforts are amplified through partnerships with organizations like the Chronic Care Collaborative and Colorado Patients Taking Action, which strengthen our ability to influence policy and promote meaningful change at both the state and national levels.

At the heart of our advocacy work are the stories of lupus patients themselves. We encourage individuals affected by lupus to join our network of advocates, giving a human face to the challenges and triumphs of living with the disease. Whether you’re an experienced advocate or new to the process, we provide the guidance, resources, and training needed to make your voice heard. Together, we can create a brighter future for those living with lupus.

Patient & Family Support: Building a Community

Support for patients and their families is at the core of Lupus Colorado’s mission. We recognize that living with lupus can be isolating, so we are committed to fostering connection and community. Whether through support groups, meet-ups, or educational events, we strive to provide opportunities for patients and caregivers to come together, share their experiences, and find comfort in knowing they are not alone.

Our patient support programs are designed to address the practical and emotional challenges of living with lupus. From offering guidance on managing symptoms to connecting individuals with others who understand their journey, we are dedicated to helping people affected by lupus build a supportive network.

At Lupus Colorado, we believe in the power of community and the strength that comes from shared experiences. By advocating for change and providing patient support, we are working to improve the lives of all individuals impacted by lupus.
