Dr. Estevan Flores, Board Member
Dr. Estevan Flores is a retired sociologist and activist based in Denver, CO. He was Executive Director of the Latino/a Research & Policy Center at the University of Colorado Denver and held leadership roles, including Chief of Population Science at the Nevada Cancer Institute. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s from the University of Notre Dame.
Specializing in public health and health disparities, Dr. Flores has published extensively and secured over $7.5 million in research funding, particularly for cancer prevention. He has served on national and state health boards, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Minority Advisory Committee and the Colorado Department of Public Health Board.
Dr. Flores co-founded several organizations, such as the Hispanic Health Coalition of Colorado and the Colorado Latino Forum. He now serves on the Lupus Colorado board, driven by the loss of his sister to lupus. Currently, he is writing his autobiography and continues to advocate for underserved communities.
